What we have undertaken to do, as a result of the most recent federal-provincial ministers meeting, is to have Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency meet with the senior policy representatives from the provincial governments and meet with the representatives of the industry organizations to come up with a consensus as to where we can legitimately go, to provide the types of oversight and inspection services that people are expecting, to find out who would be the appropriate body to do that, and to determine what type of recognition would be required.

(27) L'expérience acquise dans l'application des directives 2000/43/CE et 2004/113/CE montre que la protection contre la discrimination fondée sur les motifs visés à la présente directive serait renforcée par l'existence, dans chaque État membre, d'un ou de plusieurs organismes indépendants et distincts selon les différents facteurs de discrimination, ayant compétence pour analyser les problèmes en cause, offrir formations et informations et apporter une assistance concrète aux victimes, y compris, dans les cas de discrimination multiple, en laissant alors la possibilité à la personne qui s'estime victime de discrimination multiple de choisir vers quel organisme elle entend se tourner, notamment pour lui donner mandat d'agir en son nom dans les procédures judiciaires ou administratives.
(27) Experience in applying Directives 2000/43/EC and 2004/113/EC show that protection from discrimination on the grounds covered by this Directive would be strengthened by the existence of an independent body or bodies in each Member State, for each of the various factors of discrimination, with competence to analyse the problems involved, to study possible solutions, provide information and training and to provide concrete assistance for the victims, including in cases of multiple discrimination so that persons who consider themselves to be victims of multiple discrimination can choose which body to apply to - and also appoint to defend them in judicial or administrative proceedings.
