Calls on the Spanish Presidency to complement its combat against illegal immigration with an equal commitment to the adoption of other related legislative proposals, thereby maintaining a balance between purely restrictive measures and legislation supporting the integration of third-country nationals already present in the European Union, in line with the conclusions of the Tampere European Council, as well as measures to combat discrimination;
