E. considérant que la Russie demeure impliquée, directement ou indirectement, dans les conflits et les divisions internes qui touchent les trois pays de l'association — les conflits en Abkhazie et en Ossétie du Sud en Géorgie, la question de la Transnistrie en Moldavie et l'annexion de la Crimée par la Russie et la participation au conflit dans l'est de l'Ukraine; que ces conflits compromettent l'intégrité territoriale des pays partenaires, constituent une violation du droit international et affaiblissent la situation générale en matière de sécurité sur le continent européen;
E. whereas Russia remains involved, directly or indirectly, in conflicts and internal divisions touching all the three association countries – the Abkhazia and South Ossetia conflicts in Georgia, the Transnistria issue in Moldova and the Russian annexation of Crimea and involvement in the conflict in the eastern parts of Ukraine; whereas these conflicts undermine the territorial integrity of the partner countries, are in breach of international law and weaken the overall security situation in the continent of Europe;

45. s'inquiète vivement de la poursuite de l'escalade de la violence et de l'intensification des conflits armés dans l'Ukraine orientale; condamne les violations des droits de l'homme à grande échelle commises dans le conflit et apporte son soutien sans réserve à la mission d'observation des droits de l'homme des Nations unies et à la mission spéciale d'observation de l'OSCE en Ukraine; demeure préoccupé par la discrimination et les violations des droits de l'homme généralisées commises à l'encontre de la population locale en Crimée, notamment les Tatars de Crimée; invite les États membres de l'Union à soutenir tous les efforts possibles déployés au niveau des Nations unies pour lutter contre l'impunité et mener des enquêtes impartiales sur les événements violents et les violations des droits de l'homme liés aux manifestations sur la place Maïdan, à l'annexion de la Crimée et au conflit armé en Ukraine orientale; appelle au respect du droit et des principes humanitaires internationaux afin que la population civile touchée par le conflit en Ukraine orientale soit protégée;

Expresses its grave concern over the further escalation of violence and armed conflict in eastern Ukraine; condemns the large-scale human rights violations in the conflict and fully supports the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission and the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine; remains concerned about the discrimination and widespread human rights violations against the local population in Crimea, in particular the Crimean Tatars; calls on the EU Member States to support all possible efforts at UN level to fight impunity and to conduct impartial investigations into the violent events and human rights violations linked to the Maidan demonstrations, the annexation of Crimea, and the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine; calls for respect for international humanitarian law and principles to protect civilians in conflict in eastern Ukraine;

Under these circumstances, I appeal to EU Member States to join the Czech Republic in standing ready to grant political asylum to persecuted Ukrainian opposition politicians and to consider sanctions against Ukraine for violations of international law, if the situation in Ukraine does not change.
