When the shipment of waste listed in Annex III is destined for an interim storage or recovery facility, the relevant authorities may require the holder, the notifier or the legal representative of the consignee to submit a contract, letter or other document signed by the interim storage or recovery facility that it will only ship the waste to facilities that can demonstrate that the waste will be managed in an environmentally sound manner in accordance with Article 49 throughout the period of the shipment, including the final recovery.
