The guidelines involve authorizing Portugal to grant diminishing state aid until the 2000/2001 marketing year (from ECU 6,21 per 100 kg of white sugar in 1998/1999 to ECU 3,11 in 2000/2001) and a decision that no state aid would be authorized in that sector as from the 2001/2002 marketing year.
