La résolution de cet après-midi concerne plus particulièrement la Cour pénale internationale et le fait qu’il y a plus d’un an maintenant, cette Cour a émis deux mandats d’arrêts à l’encontre d’Ahmad Harun, qui était ministre de l’intérieur de l’époque et qui est aujourd’hui ministre des affaires humanitaires – ce que bon nombre d’ente nous, je pense, trouvent choquant – et contre l’un des anciens chefs des milices Janjawid, Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman.
This afternoon’s resolution particularly concerns the International Criminal Court, and the fact that, over a year ago now, two arrest warrants were issued by that Court for Ahmad Haroun, the Minister of the Interior at the time, who is now the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs – which I think many of us find deeply shocking – and also for one of the former Janjaweed militia leaders, Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman.

Pour terminer, et encore une fois de façon très significative, je souhaiterais attirer votre attention en dépassant ici les limites de la résolution qui presse le gouvernement du Soudan de répondre aux exigences du procureur général du tribunal pénal international Luis Moreno-Ocampo d'arrêter Ahmed Haroun, le ministre soudanais des affaires humanitaires, tout particulièrement afin qu’il puisse être tenu responsable du déplacement de deux millions de personnes au Darfour, lançant ainsi un procès international qui aurait dû commencer il y a quelques temps.
Finally, and again very significantly, I would like to note, and here I undoubtedly go beyond the words of the Resolution, which urges the government of Sudan to follow the demands of the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, to arrest Ahmed Haroun, Sudan’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, specifically so that he can be held accountable for the displacement of two million people in Darfur, thereby instigating an international trial which should have begun some time ago.
