(d) The way in which private equity funds use leveraged financing and transfer loans contracted in order to purchase firms to those firms themselves, in many cases jeopardising their survival, makes stricter rules to govern such funds essential. 3. Within the preceding 10 years, the building must not have received national or Community assistance which would give rise to duplication where the Structural Funds are part-financing a purchase or where the Cohesion Fund is financing another project.
