Today, the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy and Transport Loyola de Palacio, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Marek Pol and the Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine Mr. Vitalii Gaiduk, gave strong support for the realisation of the "Odessa-Brody-Plock Oil Transportation Project", and signed a Joint declaration which recognises the important step forwards made in the last months.

20. rappelle que le 11 juillet est reconnu comme journée commémorative du génocide de Srebrenica dans l'Union européenne et invite tous les pays de cette région à faire de même; se félicite de l'adoption de diverses résolutions sur Srebrenica par les parlements de quatre pays des Balkans occidentaux, notamment par l'Assemblée nationale de la République serbe, et invite l'État bosniaque et les parlements des entités bosniaques à adopter des résolutions semblables dans un proche avenir; voit dans ces déclarations des avancées importantes contribuant à assumer le passé tragique de la région et espère qu'elles posent les jalons d'une compréhension de l'histoire commune, afin de promouvoir une véritable réconciliation dans l’ensemble de la région; souligne que le fait de traduire en justice les responsables du génocide perpétré à Srebrenica et dans les environs est une étape importante vers la paix et la stabilité;

Recalls that the 11 July is recognised as the day of commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide in the EU and calls on all the countries of the region to do the same; welcomes the adoption of various resolutions on Srebrenica by parliaments of four Western Balkan countries, in particular by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and calls on the Bosnian State and Entity Parliaments to adopt similar resolutions in the near future; considers these declarations as important steps to come to terms with the tragic past of the region and hopes that they pave the way for an understanding of the common history with a view to promoting a genuine reconciliation in the whole region; stresses that bringing to justice those responsible for the genocide in and around Srebrenica is an important step towards regional stability and peace;

Notes that, on the basis of Chapter X of the Euratom Treaty (on external relations), the Euratom's accession to a number of international conventions, in particular the Convention on Nuclear Safety and the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, has enabled the Community to participate in international effort on these issues and to promote the important advances achieved in the European Union;
