M.Delebarre (FR-PSE) a interpellé la présidence italienne en lui demandant de faire en sorte que le renforcement de la cohésion territoriale soit inscrit "comme un objectif fondamental dans le traité".
Mr Delebarre (FR-PES) asked the Italian presidency to ensure that enhancing territorial cohesion would be included as "a fundamental objective in the Treaty".

C'est pourquoi le CdR demande dans cet avis une modification du Traité de l'Union européenne afin que la cohésion territoriale soit inscrite parmi les principaux objectifs à atteindre au niveau communautaire; il ajoute que cette inscription devra être confirmée dans le futur traité constitutionnel pour donner à l'Union Européenne les moyens nécessaires d'agir dans ce sens.
The CoR therefore calls for the EU Treaty to be amended, enshrining territorial cohesion as one of the main policy objectives to be pursued at Community level. It also urges that its inclusion be confirmed in the future constitutional treaty, in order to equip the European Union with the appropriate tools.
