Une question particulièrement préoccupante est celle de la situation des Roms. One issue of particular concern is the situation of the Roma. The Commission has repeatedly highlighted the difficult conditions faced by Roma communities in Member States, candidate countries and acceding countries. Substantial amounts of financial assistance have been provided from the EU budget, including over €100 million through the PHARE programme for projects specifically targeting Roma. However, the Roma continue to experience particularly severe forms of exclusion and discrimination in education, employment, housing, healthcare and other areas. Furthermore, the EU needs to develop appropriate responses to the different needs of new migrants, established minorities of immigrant origin and other minority groups.
