G. considérant que les violences à Maaloula étaient les premières à viser spécialement une communauté chrétienne importante depuis le début de la crise en Syrie; qu'au moins quatre personnes – Michaël Saalab, Antoine Saalab, Sarkis Zakem et Zaki Jabra – ont trouvé la mort pendant cette attaque et que plusieurs autres – Shadi Saalab, Jihad Saalab, Moussa Shannis, Ghassan Shannis, Daoud Milani et Atif Kalloumi – ont été enlevées ou ont disparu; que, depuis le début des combats dans ce village, la plupart de ses 5 000 habitants ont fui dans les villages voisins ou à Damas; que ces combats sont la preuve de la polarisation sectaire grandissante du conflit syrien;
G. whereas the violent clashes in Maaloula are the first attacks specifically targeting a notable Christian community since the beginning of the violent crisis in Syria; whereas at least four people – Michael Thaalab, Antoine Thaalab, Sarkis Zakem and Zaki Jabra – were killed in these clashes while others – Shadi Thaalab, Jihad Thaalab, Moussa Shannis, Ghassan Shannis, Daoud Milaneh and Atef Kalloumeh – were kidnapped or disappeared; whereas since fighting began in the town, most of its 5 000 residents have fled to neighbouring villages or to Damascus; whereas events in Maaloula are evidence of the further sectarianisation of the Syrian conflict;

13. déplore que plusieurs personnes continuent de faire l'objet de poursuites au titre de l'article 301 du Code pénal turc; condamne fermement la récente condamnation de Sarkis Seropyan et Arat Dink en application de cet article; invite instamment le gouvernement turc et le parlement nouvellement élu à réviser la loi existante à veiller à ce que toutes les dispositions du code pénal permettant de restreindre arbitrairement l'expression d'opinions non violentes soient abrogées et à garantir la liberté d'expression et de la presse; considère qu'il doit s'agir d'une priorité de tout premier plan pour le nouveau gouvernement;
13. Deplores the fact that a number of people are still being prosecuted under Article 301 of the Penal Code; strongly condemns the recent conviction of Saris Seropyan and Arat Dink under this article; urges the government and the newly elected parliament to make sure that all provisions of the Penal Code allowing for arbitrary restrictions on the expression of non-violent opinions are removed and that freedom of expression and freedom of the press are guaranteed; regards this as a top priority for the new government;
