Rather than interventionism, external interference in attempts at conflict resolution and the militarisation of the continent, and in particular this region, the time has come to promote diplomatic efforts – which are far from being exhausted, witness the recent peace agreement signed between Sudan and Chad – to resolve problems that lie at the root of the current serious situation, not least the unjust distribution of access to the rich natural resources in the region.
