- State Aid N° 12/93 - Rhone-Poulenc - Germany The Commission has decided that aid totalling DM 7 150 000 (approximately 3,75 MECU) granted to Rhône-Poulenc Rhotex GmbH, a German synthetic fibres producer, is compatible with the common market in that it promotes the economic development of the Land Brandenburg, an area which may be classed as a region eligible for aid under Article 92(3)(a) and conforms with the EC Code on Aid to the Synthetic Fibres Industry1 because its net effect would be a significant reduction in the texturising capacity of the Rhône-Poulenc Group.

La Commission a pris sa décision après avoir constaté que l'investissement aidé aurait pour conséquence une réduction significative des capacités de texturation de fils polyamide-6.6 du groupe Rhône- Poulenc, compte tenu des nouvelles capacités de Rhône-Poulenc Rhotex GmbH, de la réduction concomitante des capacités de la maison mère, Rhône-Poulenc Rhodia AG, également située à Cottbus, ainsi que d'autres modifications de la capacité d'unités du groupe situées ailleurs en Europe.
In reaching this decision, the Commission noted that, as a result of the aided investment, there would be a significant reduction in the capacity of the Rhône-Poulenc Group for the texturization of polyamide-6.6 textile filament yarn, taking account of the new capacity for Rhône-Poulenc Rhotex GmbH, a parallel reduction in capacity by the company's parent, Rhône-Poulenc Rhodia AG, also located in Cottbus, as well as other changes in the Group's capacity elsewhere in Europe.
