Karas, car l’agenda de Bâle II est naturellement très important à nos yeux et l’étude réalisée par PricewaterhouseCoopers constitue une base essentielle pour les amendements que nous pouvons encore apporter aux règles de Bâle II. Cependant, pour les députés de cette Assemblée, il est extrêmement important de savoir quel impact l’introduction de Bâle II aura sur nos petites et moyennes entreprises en particulier et quels travaux doivent encore être menés par les ministres des finances et autres afin de garantir la réussite de l’introduction de Bâle II. Je pense que, sur ce point, la Commission devrait montrer, par le biais d’une étude d’impact fondée sur une analyse comparative ou les meilleures pratiques, comment garantir la réussite de l’introduction de Bâle II.
– (DE) Mr President, Commissioner Bolkestein, I would also like to thank Mr Karas, because the Basel II agenda is naturally very important for us and the study by PricewaterhouseCoopers is an important basis for the amendments that we can still make to the Basel II rules. For us in this House, however, it is especially important to find out how the introduction of Basel II will impact on our small- and medium-sized businesses in particular and which tasks still have to be addressed by the finance ministers and others in order to ensure the successful introduction of Basel II. I think that here, the Commission should demonstrate, with some form of best-practice/benchmark impact analysis, how the successful introduction of Basel II can be guaranteed.
