Je pense qu’il y a un risque, comme cela s’est passé avec la stratégie de Lisbonne, que nombre de nos objectifs ne dépassent pas le stade du papier. Cela m’inquiète, à moins que nous soyons capables de donner des arguments convaincants aux citoyens européens, qui supportent le choc de la crise, qui ne peuvent et ne doivent pas suivre les débats techniques sur le pacte de stabilité et de croissance et sur les indicateurs et les sanctions.
I think that there is a risk, as happened with the Lisbon Strategy, that many of our objectives will get no further than the drawing board and I worry that this will happen unless we are able to put persuasive arguments to the people of Europe, who are bearing the brunt of the crisis, who cannot and should not have to follow technical debates on the reform of the Stability and Growth Pact and on indicators and penalties.
