(3) The European standardisation system should continue to be run by and for stakeholders in line with the principles of cohesion, transparency, openness, consensus, independence from special interests, market adequacy, effectiveness and national representation in the decision-making process, and European standards should continue to be adopted by the European standardisation organisations, namely the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

12. souligne que la création de ce système devrait s'accompagner de l'ouverture d'un registre européen unique, normalisé et public répertoriant les produits non agricoles qui bénéficient d'une indication géographique protégée, de sorte à promouvoir les produits artisanaux et à informer et protéger les consommateurs comme les producteurs, tout en évitant de créer une charge administrative inutile; souligne aussi qu'un tel système devrait suivre une démarche transversale, de sorte que son incidence économique et sociale s'en trouve maximisée, et qu'il devrait valoriser autant que possible le lien entre productions et terroir et accroître la transparence, afin de renforcer la crédibilité et l'authenticité des produits, de garantir leur origine et de contribuer à améliorer leur traçabilité; rappelle la nécessité de s'assurer régulièrement que les critères nécessaires à l'obtention de l'indication géographique protégée continuent d'être respectés une fois le label attribué;

Stresses that this system must be accompanied by the creation of a single standardised and public European register for non-agricultural products benefiting from geographical indication protection, with a view to fostering craft products and informing and protecting both consumers and producers, whilst avoiding any unnecessary administrative burden; stresses, further, that such a system should be characterised by a cross-cutting approach in order to maximise its economic and social impact, and that it should significantly enhance the existing link between products and their area of origin, and improve transparency, in order to increase the credibility and authenticity of a product, guarantee its origin and contribute to improving its traceability; points to the need for regular checks to be carried out once geographical indication status has been granted, to make sure that the criteria on which that status was based are still being met;

L’UE devrait également continuer à se mobiliser pour poursuivre ses objectifs à plus large échelle; elle devrait être prête à réagir à court terme tout en s’engageant par ailleurs à approfondir les travaux menés avec les pays candidats, y compris la normalisation des relations entre la Serbie et le Kosovo.
