It brought together around 150 representatives of a very broad cross-section of civil society, ranging from socio-occupational organisations to voluntary bodies, NGOs active in the social, environmental, human rights, educational and cultural sectors and religious bodies. Convention vice-chairman Jean-Luc Dehaene and European Commissioner Michel Barnier, member of the Convention Praesidium, both attended the meeting.
