During the debate, the government and the opposition parties tried to determine what should be changed in the Young Offenders Act and what should remain the same. In this non-partisan debate, the members unanimously passed a motion, which reads as follows: ``This motion is to the effect that this Assembly insists that any amendments to the federal Young Offenders Act comply with the laws and policies of Quebec with respect to youth protection''.
