Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 19, 2006, the committee began its examination of the motion that the Senate should recognize the inalienable right of the first inhabitants of the land now know as Canada to use their ancestral language to communicate for any purpose; and that, to facilitate the expression of this right, the Senate should immediately take the necessary administrative and technical measures so that senators wishing to use their ancestral language in this house may do so.

Cette motion permet au Bloc québécois de réitérer la position qui a été maintes fois exprimée devant cette Chambre selon laquelle celle-ci devrait reconnaître l'existence du génocide arménien et joindre sa voix à d'autres parlements qui ont voulu affirmer l'existence d'un tel génocide.
