The Commission granted ECU 500 000 to Médecins Sans Frontières (Belgium) on 6 April for the immediate dispatch of medical and surgical assistance to Kigali. On 29 April it gave ECU 450 000 to Oxfam (UK) to provide basic necessities and drinking water to the tens of thousands of people who have found refuge in Tanzania since 28 April, and ECU 680 000 to Médecins Sans Frontières (Spain) for urgent medical assistance to these refugees.
