Demands that the Greek government abolish the penal provisions as described in article 43b of the Greek Law Decree No 2623/1953/A-268, which impose a sentence of two to twelve months’ imprisonment on women who violate the ban on women entering Mount Athos; reiterates its request that the ban on women entering Mount Athos should be lifted and notes that such a ban is a violation of the principle and the international conventions on gender equality, non-discrimination on the basis of gender and the provisions relating to free movement of persons provided by the Greek Constitution and Community law;
