prendre à l'avenir pour s'attaquer au problème des changements climatiques lors du séminaire d'experts gouvernementaux, qui s'est tenu en mai 2005 dans le cadre de la CCNUCC; SE FÉLICITE de l'engagement pris par les pays du G8 de faire avancer les débats au niveau mondial sur les mesures concertées à long terme visant à combattre les changements climatiques lors de la Conférence des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques, qui se tiendra à Montréal en décembre 2005; RECONNAÎT que l'article 3, paragraphe 9, du
protocole ...[+++] de Kyoto prévoit que la première Conférence des Parties agissant comme réunion des Parties au protocole entame l'examen des nouveaux engagements pris par les pays développés sept ans au moins avant la fin de la première période d'engagement, et SOULIGNE que la Conférence des Parties agissant comme réunion des Parties au protocole de Kyoto devrait donc entamer ces examens lors de sa première réunion en décembre 2005 à Montréal; RAPPELLE également que l'article 9 prévoit qu'une première évaluation du protocole de Kyoto ait lieu lors de la deuxième session de la Conférence des Parties agissant comme réunion des Parties au protocole, et que cette évaluation est à coordonner avec les évaluations pertinentes dans le contexte de la Convention-cadre des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques; En préparation à la COP 11 – COP/MOP 1, COMPTE qu'un processus sera engagé entre toutes les Parties à la Convention-cadre des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques afin d'étudier comment continuer à mettre en œuvre cette Convention pour réaliser son objectif ultime en mettant au point, pour après 2012, des modalités s'appuyant sur les expériences acquises à ce jour dans la lutte contre les changements climatiques, y compris notamment les instruments axés sur le marché, en mettant l'accent en particulier sur l'efficacité environn ...IS ENCOURAGED by the positive, forward-looking contributions made in di
scussions on future action to tackle climate change at the UNFCCC Seminar of Governmental Experts in May 2005; WELCOMES the commitment of the G8 countries to moving forward the global discussion on long-term co-operative action to address climate change at the UN Climate Change Conference in Montreal in December 2005. RECOGNISES that Article 3(9) of the Kyoto Protocol provides that the first Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol shall initiate the consideration of further commitments to be undertaken by developed countries at
...[+++] least seven years before the end of the first commitment period; and STRESSES that the COP/MOP should therefore initiate such considerations at its first meeting in December 2005 in Montreal; RECALLS also that Article 9 provides for a first review of the Kyoto Protocol at the second session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Protocol, and that this review is to be coordinated with pertinent reviews under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
