Reiterates the importance of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), as a new citizens’ right introduced by the Lisbon Treaty which aims at increasing participatory democracy in the EU; notes the importance of the ECI as a powerful tool providing European citizens with a direct democratic right to contribute to the decision-making process of the EU, in addition to European citizens’ right to submit petitions to the European Parliament (EP) and their right of appeal to the European Ombudsman;

Decisions taken by the Board under Article 8 of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 may be the subject of a complaint to the European Ombudsman or of proceedings before the Court of Justice, following an appeal to the Appeal Panel, referred to in Article 85 of this Regulation, as appropriate, under the conditions laid down in Articles 228 and 263 TFEU respectively.
3. Tegen de besluiten van de afwikkelingsraad krachtens artikel 8 van Verordening (EG) nr. 1049/2001 kan een klacht worden ingediend bij de Europese Ombudsman of beroep worden ingesteld bij het Hof van Justitie, desgevallend na een beroep bij het in artikel 85 van deze verordening bedoelde beroepspanel, onder de voorwaarden die in respectievelijk artikel 228 en artikel 263 VWEU zijn opgenomen.

3. Decisions taken by the Authority pursuant to Article 8 of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 may be the subject of a complaint to the Ombudsman or of proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union, following an appeal to the Board of Appeal, as appropriate, in accordance with the conditions laid down in Articles 228 and 263 TFEU respectively.
3. Tegen besluiten van de Autoriteit uit hoofde van artikel 8 van Verordening (EG) nr. 1049/2001 kan een klacht worden ingediend bij de Ombudsman of beroep worden ingesteld bij het Hof van Justitie na bezwaar te hebben aangetekend bij de bezwaarcommissie, al naargelang het geval, onder de voorwaarden van respectievelijk artikel 228 en artikel 263 VWEU.
