Following the last EU-China Summit in May, negotiations on a new partnership and cooperation agreement are proceeding well and we are able to take advantage of a growing number of high-level contacts, including Prime Minister Wen’s highly successful visit to President Barroso earlier this year and the meeting of the high-level economic and trade dialogue which I co-chaired with Vice-Premier Wang Qishan.
Depuis le dernier sommet Union européenne - Chine organisé en mai, les négociations relatives à un nouvel accord de partenariat et de coopération progressent bien et nous pouvons profiter d’un nombre croissant de contacts à haut niveau, telle notamment la visite très réussie faite par le Premier ministre Wen Jibao au président Barroso cette année et le dialogue économique et commercial à haut niveau que j’ai coprésidé avec le vice-Premier ministre Wang Qishan.

A succession of high-level visits to Egypt has been made to underline and highlight this support, by inter alia. European Commission President Barroso and European Council President Van Rompuy, by HR/VP Ashton and Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy Füle.

The summit follows a very rich year in terms of political dialogue, packed with several important high-level meetings held earlier this year, including the College visit led by President Barroso and Cathy Ashton’s visit to China for the first round of the Strategic Dialogue in early September.
Le sommet fait suite à une année très riche en termes de dialogue politique, avec plusieurs réunions importantes de haut niveau tenues plus tôt cette année, parmi lesquelles la visite du collège dirigé par le président Barroso et la visite de Cathy Ashton en Chine pour le premier cycle de dialogue stratégique, au début du mois de septembre.
