In October 2009, the European Commission, together with the French competition authority, searched the French offices of Sandoz, alleging that Sandoz may have entered into anticompetitive price coordination practices with other generic pharmaceuticals companies and via the French trade association for generic pharmaceuticals companies.

In addition to telephone assistance, several other services (such as Zelfmoordlijn, Tele-Onthaal, Kinder- en Jongerentelefoon, i.e. Children and Teenager Phone) also offer online assistance, with the Internet becoming THE way of communicating.

Though the quality of the somatic and medical care administered upon admittance does not differ from that provided for other emergencies, we do know that there are a series difficulties involved in the manner in which suicidal patients are to be managed and that these difficulties are not or badly taken into account by some emergency services:

Moreover, these patients rarely heed the referral to other specialists or the treatment administered for underlying problems after having been treated in the emergency service. In this project, the GPs are asked to actively follow the patients and to encourage them to receive post-hospital follow-up care (possibly provided by the hospital).
