S’agissant de l’HTAP, les comprimés pelliculés Tracleer ont fait l’objet de quatre études principales: deux études portant sur un total de 245 adultes souffrant d’HTAP de classe III ou IV, soit primitive, soit induite par une sclérodermie, une étude portant sur 54 adultes atteints d’HTAP de classe III associée à des déficiences cardiaques congénitales et une étude portant sur 185 patients souffrant d'HTAP de classe II. Les études ont comparé Tracleer au placebo (traitement fictif), lorsqu’ils ont été ajoutés à un traitement conventionnel.

Een multicenter, gerandomiseerd, dubbelblind, actief-gecontroleerd parallelgroeponderzoek liet een normalisatie van de bloeddruk (diastolische dalbloeddruk in zittende houding < 90 mmHg aan het eind van het onderzoek) zien bij patiënten bij wie de bloeddruk niet adequaat onder controle was met 10 mg amlodipine. Deze normalisatie trad op bij 78% van de patiënten die amlodipine/valsartan 10 mg/160 mg kregen, ten opzichte van 67% van de patiënten die 10 mg amlodipine bleven nemen.
