In zijn conclusies van 25 juni 2001 en 10 december 2002 over mensenrechten en democratisering in derde landen heeft de Raad gewezen op het belang dat hij hecht aan consistentie tussen het optreden van de Gemeenschap en het gemeenschappelijk buitenlands en veiligheidsbeleid en de integratie van mensenrechten en democratisering in het beleid en de activiteiten van de EU. De Raad verleent zijn volle steun aan de mededeling van de Commissie en ziet daarin een belangrijke bijdrage tot de verbetering van de toepassing van deze beginselen op het Europees-mediterrane partnerschap, waarin de gemeenschappelijke waarden van onze samenlevingen aan beide zijden van de Middellandse Zee vervat zijn.
In its conclusions of 25 June 2001 and 10 December 2002 on human rights and democratisation in third countries, the Council stressed the importance it attaches to consistency between Community action and the Common Foreign and Security Policy and "mainstreaming" of human rights and democratisation into EU policies and actions. The Council fully endorses the Commission's communication as an important contribution towards enhancing the application of these principles to the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, which constitute the common values of our societies on both sides of the Mediterranean.
