Compte tenu du fait que le gouvernement fédéral s'est donné la peine de confier ce dossier à la Cour suprême pour vérifier la constitutionnalité de cette approche, c'est-à-dire celle de la responsabilité stricte, à l'égard des infractions aux règlements, je trouve fort étonnant que ce même gouvernement essaie maintenant d'aller à l'encontre de ce qu'il a gagné devant la Cour suprême.
I find it anomalous that since the federal government went to all the trouble of taking the case to the Supreme Court to test the constitutionality of what I call the traditional approach, the strict liability approach, to regulatory offences, the same federal government is now busy undoing what it so successfully achieved in the litigation before the Supreme Court.
