Welcomes recent reforms by the Georgian authorities designed to further strengthen the stability, independence and effectiveness of institutions responsible for guaranteeing democracy (particularly that of the judicial institutions), the rule of law and good governance, and as regards consolidating the system of protection for human rights and fundamental freedoms; reiterates the importance of ensuring that all three branches of power remain separated; calls for the effective use of the checks and balances system, together with oversight mechanisms;

6. Dans sa résolution sur la conclusion de l'AII, le Parlement rappelle que l'accord conclu le 4 avril 2006 par les trois institutions était le seul compromis que le PE pouvait dégager dans le cadre des négociations, non sans reconnaître qu'un certain nombre de lacunes restent à combler à l'issue des négociations. Il considère par ailleurs que ces lacunes devront être comblées dans le contexte du réexamen de 2008-2009 ou, si possible, au cours des procédures budgétaires annuelles.
6. In its resolution on the conclusion of the IIA, the Parliament recalls "that the agreement reached by the three institutions on 4 April 2006 was the only compromise EP could achieve within the magnitude of the negotiations" but acknowledges that "a number of deficits are still unresolved in the outcome of the negotiations" and “considers that these deficits should be addressed in the 2008-2009 review and, where possible, in the course of the annual budgetary procedures".
