In the case of Project 144265 Shiplog II, regarding the Authority’s remark that the amount granted by the RCN equalled the sum necessary to purchase RD, the RCN argued that this does not imply that the private means invested in Shiplog II were not used on RD activities, ‘In industry-driven projects, which can be applied for by private companies, we generally encourage cooperation between private companies and public RD institutions. In order to promote such cooperation we may in some calls for proposals for industry-driven projects state that the application will be evaluated favourably if the external purchases of RD from research institutions (institutes or universities) are at least as high as the support given by the RCN.
