1. The definitive anti-dumping duty imposed by Regulation (EEC) No 1698/85 on imports of electronic typewriters, whether or not incorporating calculating mechanisms, originating in Japan, is hereby also imposed on electronic typewriters, whether or not incorporating calculating mechanisms, falling within CN codes 8469 10 00, ex 8469 21 00 and ex 8469 29 00, introduced into the commerce of the Community after having been assembled in the Community by Silver Reed (UK) or Sharp (UK).

They are: - Silver Reed International (Europe) Ltd, Watford, UK - Brother Industries (UK) Ltd, Wrexham, UK - Kyushu Matsushita (UK) Ltd, Newport, UK - Sharp Manufacturing Company of UK, Wrexham, UK - Canon Bretagne S.A., Liffré, France - TEC Electronik-Wrk GmbH, Braunschweig, FRG The last firm on the list ceased assembling the product in question before the enquiry was opened and was therefore not included in the investigation.

- 2 - A l'issue de l'enquête qui a porté sur la période du 1er janvier 1987 au 31 juillet 1987, il est apparu que pour toutes ces sociétés, à l'exception de Brother Industries les deux critères d'application du nouveau règlement antidumping étaient présents, à savoir : - les sociétés en question avaient débuté leurs opérations dans la Communauté après l'ouverture de l'enquête antidumping; - elles utilisaient une proportion très élevée de composants en provenance des sociétés japonaises frappées du droit antidumping originel, proportion variant en moyenne entre 75 et 96%; C'est la raison pour laquelle la Commission propose au Conseil l'imposition de droits antidumping sur les produits manufacturés par ces entreprises, droits qui seront fixés au niveau suivant par pièce assemblée : - Canon Bretagne (F) 44.00 Ecus - Kyushu Matsushita (RU) 40,94 Ecus - Sharp (RU) 21.82 Ecus - Silver Reed (RU) 56.14 Ecus Par contre, pour la firme Brother Industries (RU), il a été constaté que la moyenne des composants utilisés en provenance du Japon était inférieure à 60% et qu'elle ne pouvait, par conséquent, faire l'objet d'un droit antidumping.
- 2 - As a result of the investigation, which covered the period from 1 January to 31 July 1987, it transpired that all these firms except Brother Industries .the two criteria for action under the new anti-dumping Regulation, namely: - they had begun their operations in the Community after the opening of the anti-dumping investigation, - they used a very high proportion of components ranging on average from 75% to 96% from the Japanese companies which were the subject of the original anti-dumping duty. Accordingly the Commission is proposing to the Council that anti- dumping duties should be imposed on the products manufactured by these firms, set at the following levels for each assembled part: - Canon Bretagne (France) 44.00 ECU - Kyushu Matsushita (UK) 40.94 ECU - Sharp (UK) 21.82 ECU - Silver Reed (UK) 56.14 ECU However, for Brothers industries UK the investigation snowed that on average less than 60% of the parts used came from Japan and therefore an anti-dumping duty could not be imposed.
