This means, first, that the same convergence criteria will be applied to Greece as for the other Member States for assessing the achievement of a high degree of sustainable convergence; and second, that the Commission will examine the fulfilment by Greece of the convergence criteria in the year 2000, possibly at the request of the Greek authorities.
