Les termes "seafaring crew " et "Schiffsbesatzung " (personnel navigant) offriraient un avantage supplémentaire par rapport à l'expression retenue en allemand. En effet, le terme "seemännische " (marin) en allemand, possède encore une connotation fortement masculine, tandis que "Schiffsbesatzung ", personnel navigant, et "seafaring crew ", seraient en quelque sorte asexués, ce qui serait plus approprié sur le plan de l'égalité des sexes.
‘Seafaring crew’ and ‘Schiffsbesatzung ’ would have the additional advantage over the expression used in the German version, in that ‘seemännische’ in German still has a very masculine ring to it, whilst ‘Schiffsbesatzung ’ and ‘seafaring crew’ could be said to be gender-neutral, which would have an advantage in terms of gender mainstreaming.
