Imam Salam Elmenyawi, Chairman, Muslim Council of Montreal: On behalf of myself and the Muslim Council of Montreal, I would like to thank the chairperson and members of the committee for providing me with the opportunity to present some of our concerns.

3. demande une fois encore la libération immédiate et inconditionnelle de toutes les personnes détenues au seul motif d'avoir exercé leur droit à la liberté d'expression et de réunion pacifique, notamment des militantes des droits de l'homme Yara Salam et Sanaa Ahmed Seif; demande la libération immédiate d'Alaa Abdoul Fattah, militant des droits de l'homme, et de Mahinour Al-Masri, juriste spécialisé en ce domaine, et l'annulation de leurs lourdes peines de prison; demande aux autorités d'annuler l'interdiction injustifiée du Mouvement de la jeunesse du 6 avril ainsi que les condamnations prononcées à l'encontre de ses militants, y compris Ahmed Maher et Mohamed Adel;
3. Calls, once again, for the immediate and unconditional release of all persons detained solely for exercising their right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, including human rights defenders Yara Sallam and Sanaa Ahmed Seif; calls for the immediate release of human rights activist Alaa Abd El Fattah and human rights lawyer Mahinour El-Masry and the overturning of their heavy prison sentences; calls on the authorities to annul the baseless ban against the April 6 Movement and the sentences against the organization’s activists, including Ahmed Maher and Mohamed Adel;

2. demande aux autorités égyptiennes la libération immédiate et inconditionnelle de toutes les personnes détenues au seul motif d'avoir exercé leur droit à la liberté d'expression et de réunion pacifique, et notamment des militants des droits de l'homme Yara Salam et Sanaa Ahmed Seif; demande aux autorités égyptiennes d'annuler l'interdiction du Mouvement de la jeunesse du 6 avril ainsi que les condamnations prononcées à l'encontre de ses militants et de ne plus considérer le principal mouvement d'opposition que sont les Frères musulmans comme un groupe terroriste; rappelle que seule la mise en place d'une société vraiment pluraliste et respectueuse de la diversité des opinions et des modes de vie permettra d'assurer la sécurité et la stabilité à long terme de l'Égypte;
2. Calls on the Egyptian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all persons detained solely for exercising their right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, including human rights defenders Yara Salam and Sanaa Ahmed Seif; calls on the Egyptian authorities to annul the ban on the April 6 Youth Movement and the sentences against the organisation´s activists and to drop the designation of the principal opposition organisation Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group; reiterates that only building a truly pluralistic society, respectful of the diversity of views and lifestyles, can ensure long-term stability and security in Egypt;

O. rappelant qu'à plusieurs reprises, le Parlement européen a exprimé son soutien aux efforts de construction d'un État déployés par le président Mahmoud Abbas et le premier ministre Salam Fayyad et qu'il avait reconnu et salué la réussite du plan bisannuel de gouvernement du premier ministre; considérant que la zone C et Jérusalem-Est doivent rester des priorités dans les plans nationaux de développement palestiniens, en particulier pour répondre au sentiment d'abandon chez les Palestiniens qui y vivent;
O. whereas Parliament has repeatedly expressed its support for the state-building efforts of President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and acknowledged and welcomed the success of the two-year state-building plan of Prime Minister Fayyad; whereas Area C and East Jerusalem should remain priorities in Palestinian national development plans, particularly in response to the sense of neglect felt by Palestinians living in these areas;

5. mesure et salue le résultat de l'action conduite par le président palestinien Mahmoud Abbas et le premier ministre Salam Fayyad pour mettre en place un État, avec le soutien de l'Union européenne et l'approbation de divers acteurs internationaux;
5. Acknowledges and welcomes the success of state-building efforts by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, which have been supported by the EU and endorsed by various international actors;
