Les travaux réalisés par les membres du comité, tous partis confondus, pour tenter de comprendre l'impact de ce projet de loi témoignent du sérieux et de l'objectivité dont le Comité des affaires juridiques et constitutionnelles a fait preuve dans son examen du projet de loi et dans l'expression de sa perception du projet de loi. Comme le sénateur l'a dit, il faudra suivre la question de près à l'avenir, si nous voulons vraiment savoir quels seront les effets de la modification d'une loi aussi importante que le Code criminel du Canada.
The work members on both sides of the committee did in trying to understand the impact of this bill is a testimony to the seriousness and objectivity the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee assumed in reviewing this proposed legislation and hence reporting our perception of this bill — which, as the honourable senator has said, will certainly need to be monitored closely in the future if we really want to know what we are doing when amending a statute as important as the Criminal Code of Canada.
