1. se félicite de l'initiative de la Commission tendant à mettre sur pied désormais, au début de chaque nouveau mandat du collège des commissaires, un programme-cadre d'action pour la période couvrant ledit mandat, et ce sous forme d'objectifs stratégiques à réaliser pour la fin de la période, ce qui devrait permettre aux citoyens de l'Union et à l'ensemble des institutions européennes de mieux appréhender et comprendre les objectifs généraux du projet européen ainsi que d'évaluer les progrès accomplis par rapport aux objectifs stratégiques définis;

Welcomes the Commission’s initiative to establish, from now on and at the beginning of every new term of office of the College of Commissioners, a framework programme of action for the entire period of that term of office, in the form of strategic objectives to be attained by the end of the period, thereby enabling the citizens of the Union and all European institutions to perceive and better understand the general goals of the European enterprise and to assess the progress achieved against the background of those fixed strategic objectives;
