Chers collègues, permettez-moi cependant, en raison précisément de cette origine qui est la mienne, d'exprimer mon émotion, parce que parallèlement à la Lituanie et aux autres pays, Chypre va, elle aussi, adhérer à l'Union. Je tiens aussi à remercier toutes les institutions de l'UE, et particulièrement mon collègue, M. Poos, qui par leur travail exceptionnel ont permis de faire face à une question aussi grave et de lui donner l'issue la plus positive possible.
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me, precisely because of my origins, to say how moved I am that Cyprus will be acceding to the Union at the same time as Lithuania and the other countries, and to thank Mr Poos in particular and all the institutions of the European Union, for doing such an excellent job of addressing such a serious issue and finding the best possible outcome.
