Le règlement (CEE) no 3730/87 du Conseil du 10 décembre 1987 fixant les règles générales applicables à la fourniture à certaines organisations de denrées alimentaires provenant des stocks d’intervention et destinées à être distribuées aux personnes les plus démunies de la Communauté , abrogé par la suite et intégré dans le règlement (CE) no 1234/2007 du Conseil du 22 octobre 2007 portant organisation commune des marchés dans le secteur agricole et dispositions spécifiques en ce qui concerne certains produits de ce secteur (règlement «OCM unique») , a assuré pendant plus de deux décennies un régime fiable de distribution de produits alimentaires aux personnes les plus démunies de l’Union (ci-après dénommé «régime de distribution de denrées alimentaires») et a contribué à la cohésion sociale de l’Union en réduisant les disparités économiques et sociales.
Council Regulation (EEC) No 3730/87 of 10 December 1987 laying down the general rules for the supply of food from intervention stocks to designated organisations for distribution to the most deprived persons in the Community , which was subsequently repealed and integrated into Council Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007 of 22 October 2007 establishing a common organisation of agricultural markets and on specific provisions for certain agricultural products (Single CMO Regulation) , has provided a reliable scheme for the distribution of food products to the most deprived persons of the Union (food distribution scheme) for more than two decades and has positively contributed to the social cohesion of the Union by reducing economic and social disparities.

(8) Organisations representing those active in farming and in rural areas, particularly farmers' organisations, consumers' associations and environmental protection associations play a vital role in informing their members about the common agricultural policy and relaying to the Commission the opinions of the parties concerned in general and farmers in particular.
