The Member of the European Commission for sport, Viviane Reding, who is representing the European Union in Lausanne, declared that: "The meeting of the Foundation Board of the World Anti-doping Agency shows clearly that, despite the many warnings from the representatives of the European Union at the Agency's meeting in Tallin in August and since, most of the Board's members are not prepared to take the decisions which are necessary to reconcile the WADA budgetary rules with Community financial rules, although this would enhance the Agency's credibility".

The initial outcome of today's meeting of the WADA Foundation Board in Lausanne confirms that the Board is unwilling to remove the obstacles to a proposal from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers for Community funding of the Agency.
