- (EN) Monsieur le Président, mon nom est attaché à ce rapport ; c'est un grand honneur, mais la plupart du travail a été réalisé par mon collègue démocrate- chrétien, M. Ingo Schmitt, qui a fait passer à ce rapport l'étape de la commission.
– Mr President, I have the honour to have my name attached to this report but most of the work has been done by my Christian Democrat colleague, Mr Ingo Schmitt, who took this report through committee.

Chers collègues - et je pense à tous les membres du Parlement européen qui ont travaillé sur ce dossier -, vous avez contribué de manière décisive à mener à bien, dans un délai très court mais avec le plus grand soin, la difficile mission confiée par le Conseil européen de Cologne. Au nom de notre groupe, je voudrais expressément remercier non seulement tous les collègues de mon groupe mais aussi, plus particulièrement, Ingo Friedrich, vice-président du Parlement, qui a coordonné nos travaux.
Ladies and gentlemen – and I mean everyone involved from the European Parliament – made a decisive contribution; as a result, the difficult instructions of the Cologne European Council were carried out successfully in a very short space of time and with the maximum possible attention. I should like on behalf of our group to offer express thanks not only to all the members of our group but, most of all, to Vice-President Ingo Friedrich, who coordinated our work.
