Comme je l’ai dit dans mon intervention d’ouverture, en réponse à la question posée par Mme Berès au nom de la commission des affaires économiques et monétaires, il y a deux volets distincts.
As I said in my opening remarks, in reply to Mrs Berès’ question on behalf of the committee, there are two separate issues.

- (ES) Monsieur le Président, Mesdames, Messieurs, je souhaiterais commencer mon intervention en m'associant à la protestation adressée par Mme Berès, parce qu'il est absurde d'engager un débat, par ailleurs très intéressant, sur le Pacte de stabilité et de croissance et sur les conclusions du Conseil Écofin à Liège, de parler ensuite de la télévision sans frontières et de revenir aux rapports de Mmes Berès et Peijs, qui sont, selon moi, une suite logique du premier débat.
– (ES) Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to begin my intervention by agreeing with Mrs Berès’s complaint, because it really makes no sense to have held a debate, which is otherwise very interesting, on the Growth and Stability Pact and on the conclusions of the ECOFIN in Liège, to have debated ‘television without frontiers’ in the middle and now to hold what I believe to be a logical continuation of the first debate, the reports by Mrs Berès and Mrs Peijs, to whom I would like to say, on behalf of the Liberal Group, that they have our support and favourable vote.

En effet, je suis extrêmement reconnaissant à Mme Plooij-Van Gorsel pour la manière dont elle a introduit dans le rapport de la commission de l'industrie, du commerce extérieur, de la recherche et de l'énergie quasiment l'ensemble des points que contenait le projet de rapport de la commission juridique et du marché intérieur dont j'étais responsable et qui constitue la raison de mon intervention ce soir.
Indeed I am very grateful to Mrs Plooij-Van Gorsel for the way in which she has worked into the report of the Committee on Industry, External Trade, Research and Energy practically all the points that were contained in the draft opinion from the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market for which I was responsible and which is the reason for my addressing you tonight.
