Je puis dire au député que même si j'ai tenté de proposer un minuscule amendement afin de ramener le projet de loi C-19, auquel nous sommes presque tous favorables, avec quelques exceptions, la seule chose que le Parti libéral ne peut accepter est imposer une surtaxe à l'industrie. Nous croyons que cela aurait un effet boomerang et nuirait aux consommateurs à long terme.
I can tell the hon. member that notwithstanding the fact that I tried to put forward a tiny amendment to bring back Bill C-19 that we all tend to agree with, with some exceptions, the one thing that is impossible for the Liberal Party to accept is a surtax on the industry because we think it will boomerang and hurt consumers in the long run.
