Mehdi Ben Ali, neveu de l’ancien président tunisien Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, a été inscrit sur la liste des personnes visées par ce gel de fonds , au motif qu’il faisait l’objet d’une enquête judiciaire des autorités tunisiennes pour acquisition de biens immobiliers et mobiliers, ouverture de comptes bancaires et détention d’avoirs financiers dans plusieurs pays dans le cadre d’opérations de blanchiment d’argent.
On 4 February 2011, the name of Mr Mehdi Ben Ali, nephew of the former Tunisian President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, was entered on the list of persons whose funds were to be frozen , on the ground that he was subject to judicial investigation by the Tunisian authorities in respect of the acquisition of movable and immovable property, the opening of bank accounts and the holding of financial assets in several countries as part of money-laundering operations.
