J'aurais vraiment été désolé et, je crois, cela n'aurait été ni démocratique, ni digne d'un parlement de retirer la parole à ses représentants uniquement parce que - et moi en particulier, j'aurais regretté de ne pas pouvoir le faire -, chaque fois qu'ils motivent leur vote, ils parlent comme moi des problèmes des retraités et, surtout, parce qu'ils s'expriment de la façon qu'ils jugent opportune, parfois également avec humour, avec sympathie, avec la possibilité de sourire un peu, même en disant des choses sérieuses sur un sujet grave.
I would really have been annoyed and, I think it would have been neither democratic nor worthy of a parliament to silence the voices of its representatives just because – and I would have been particularly upset not to be able to do this any more – every time they give an explanation of vote they raise the problems faced by pensioners, which is what I do and, above all, because they express themselves in a way that they consider appropriate, which might include humour, warmth and the possibility of smiling every once in a while, albeit in a serious atmosphere and whilst saying serious things.
