Council Directive 2009/158/EC of 30 November 2009 on animal health conditions governing intra-Community trade in, and imports from third countries of, poultry and hatching eggs (6) provides that poultry and hatching eggs imported into the Union must have originated in a third country or part of a third country included on a list drawn up by the Commission in accordance with the procedure laid down in that Directive.

Article 6(2)(a) of Council Directive 64/432/EEC of 26 June 1964 on animal health problems affecting intra-Community trade in bovine animals and swine (6) provides that bovine animals for breeding and production intended for intra-Community trade must come from an officially tuberculosis-free herd and, if more than six weeks old, have reacted negatively to an intradermal tuberculin test carried out during the 30 days prior to leaving the herd of origin.
