Je voudrais également vous rappeler un élément que j’ai mentionné auparavant: tout vide que nous pourrions laisser dans la législation communautaire sera comblé par les États membres et, dès lors, fera échouer l’objectif de cette législation harmonisée et signifiera un retour à une série de règles et de règlementations fragmentées qui porteront préjudice aux entreprises, saperont la confiance des consommateurs, entraîneront des problèmes au sein du marché intérieur et, naturellement, n’atteindront pas le niveau de protection auquel nous aspirons tous.
I would also like to remind you of something I mentioned earlier, that any vacuum that may be left in Community legislation will be filled in by the Member States and therefore will defeat the purpose of having this harmonised legislation and will mean a return to a fragmented set of rules and regulations that harm the industry, consumer confidence, cause problems for the internal market and of course do not achieve the level of protection that we would all like to have.
