This action should build on the results and experiences gained in the framework of projects financed by the health programme in the area of maritime transport, in particular ‘Assessing the usefulness of an EU ship sanitation programme and coordinated action for the control of communicable diseases in cruise ships and ferries’ (SHIPSAN) and ‘EU Ship Sanitation Training Network’ (SHIPSAN TRAINET) (9).
