Je ne suis pas en mesure de vous donner un tel signe aujourd’hui, vu l’interdépendance des questions de financement qu’impliquerait cet engagement, mais, à sa façon, il reflète selon moi la conviction, non seulement du Conseil - qui selon moi sera perceptible au Conseil de demain à Hampton Court -, mais aussi d’un vaste échantillon représentatif de députés de ce Parlement, que la recherche et le développement figurent parmi les principales priorités pour que l’Union aille de l’avant.
I am not able to give such an indication today, given the interrelated issues of financing that such a commitment would involve, but, in its own way, for me, it reflects the strength of feeling, not just amongst the Council – which I believe will be reflected in the Council tomorrow at Hampton Court – but amongst a wide cross-section of Members of this Parliament, that research and development is one of the key priorities for the Union moving ahead in the future.
