Nous avons eu un débat en juillet dernier entre les ministres de la justice sur l’éventualité d’un recours à la coopération renforcée dans Rome III et, fin juillet, neuf États membres ont saisi la Commission d’une demande de coopération renforcée, soit plus du tiers des États membres participant à l’adoption de Rome III. Alors évidemment, la Commission se doit d’examiner cette demande de coopération renforcée. Mais vous comprendrez que là aussi, dans le souci même de réussir, il faut bien être attentif à tout le contexte.

Last July, we had a debate between the justice ministers on the possibility of enhanced cooperation on Rome III and, at the end of July, nine Member States presented the Commission with a request for enhanced cooperation: that is more than a third of the Member States involved in the adoption of Rome III. It is therefore clear that the Commission needs to look into this request for enhanced cooperation, but, as you will understand, if we want this to be a success we will need to pay attention to the whole context.
