Le système fonctionne donc « de facto » en enregistrant d’assez larges fluctuations à court et moyen terme –dues au caractère flottant du système– et une stabilité tendancielle à long terme –attribuable à l’influence de long terme des « fondamentaux » monétaires stables dans les différentes économies concernées–.
De facto, the system is thus characterised by quite large exchange rate fluctuations over the short to medium term –due to the floating nature of the system- and a pattern of stability over the long term –stemming from the long term influence of stable domestic monetary fundamentals-.
